A shared vision for sustainable change

At the intersection of sports management, regional development, social cohesion, and sustainability, Le Cercle aims to create a space for dialogue and action. It is dedicated to studying and proposing concrete solutions to the challenges facing the sports and regional sectors, whether regarding regional attractiveness, the social role of sports, equal opportunities, or the shift toward more sustainable professional models.

The recent arrival of renowned experts, such as Edouard Cissé (formerly of PSG and Pau FC), academic specialists in the field like Olivier Bessy and Jean-Philippe Serbera, as well as industry professionals such as Alexis Gallice, clearly illustrates the collective momentum driven by Le Cercle. Their active contribution is already evident in the launch of the first foundational projects, which will be presented during a special roundtable discussion organized as part of the “Territoires Actifs: Sport et Loisirs” conference on May 19 and 20, 2026, on the Pau campus. This initiative underscores the importance of bridging the gap between academic thought and concrete action in the service of local communities.

A space for discussion, action, and knowledge sharing

Le Cercle is not merely a think tank; it is designed as a laboratory for ideas and projects that fosters collaboration among sports professionals, researchers, local governments, and socio-economic stakeholders. The goal is clear: to generate impactful projects, promote best practices, and help shape innovative policies and strategies on sports and regional development issues.

The inclusion of student-focused activities led by members of the Cercle also helps to reinforce knowledge transfer andinstill a sense of responsibility, openness, and commitment in future professionals. This enriches the educational experience by offering concrete insights into current issues in sports and their impact on local communities.

Between research, action, and local impact

The "Sport Management & Territories" Circle is fully integrated into the research and teaching ecosystem of éklore-ed, which places sport and territorial development at the heart of its academic and scientific strategy. By bringing together diverse expertise around a common goal— making sport a driver of territorial, social, and sustainable transformation —the initiative enhances the school’s ability to generate useful and applicable knowledge.

Driven by a spirit of collaboration and innovation, Le Cercle positions itself as a key player in shaping and supporting the evolution of sports as it interacts with local regions, communities, and economic stakeholders, while contributing to the effectiveness of local and national strategies in this field.
